After observing the transformation process of the butterfly lifecycle, celebration was abound when it was time onto release their new friends!
The students loved that some of the butterflies wanted to stay in their safe net home and seemed to not like the very windy day. 🌬️🧡🦋
Sea Perch Update!
Junior High Students have completed their underwater robots and controllers and 🐟⚓️ set sail as helmsmen and helms-women driving their collaborative submarine robots.
Next 🆙 Trying to refine skills to scoop up something from the bottom of the pool as well as navigate through a series of obstacles.

The campus will be closed to all outside community members while the drill is being conducted. The drill will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. During this time, several law enforcement will be on site, so please do not be alarmed if you see lights or hear sirens on campus. THIS IS ONLY A DRILL! Our staff and local law enforcement are undergoing this training to prepare how to respond safely and effectively during emergencies and reinforcing safety protocols. Thank you!

FlexFactor is an outreach, recruitment, and STEM education program designed to familiarize K-12 students with advanced manufacturing technology, entrepreneurship, and the education and career pathways that can lead to a STEM career. The program is designed to showcase the promise of these careers and help students to develop the critical thinking, creative reasoning, and problem-solving skills needed for future success.
Northwestern FlexFactor is layered into our CTC sponsored class Careers 7/8 taught by Mr. Caivano and aims to challenge small teams of students to identify a real-world problem, conceptualize an advanced hardware product enabled by hybrid electronics manufacturing, and build a business model around it. At the end of the program, teams pitch their product ideas to a panel of representatives from business, technology, and academia. Beginning in Silicon Valley, FlexFactor has successfully expanded nationwide, including key deployments in the Midwest, such as the Dayton region in Ohio.

🌊Sea Perch 🐟 is a new student program in our Junior High Design and Modeling class with Mr. Lindsey. If the phrase “aquatic robots” doesn’t say enough for you already, we can go on. SeaPerch is a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), think submarine meets underwater drone that is like a remote control car.
🧠🤓🤔Curiosity, creativity, and a desire to understand the world around us are traits that come naturally. Learning technical content and skills is vitally important. When this learning is tangible and connected to the real world, the impacts can be profound.
🧑🔬👩🏼⚕️🧑🔧SeaPerch aims to reduce traditional barriers to participation in robotics programs and promotes opportunities to engage students and educators in inquiry-based learning with real-world applications. As an educational program, SeaPerch introduces students to basic engineering, design, and science concepts. As a fun hands-on project, SeaPerch engages students and fosters key 21st century skills including critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity.
