🌊Sea Perch 🐟 is a new student program in our Junior High Design and Modeling class with Mr. Lindsey. If the phrase “aquatic robots” doesn’t say enough for you already, we can go on. SeaPerch is a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), think submarine meets underwater drone that is like a remote control car.
🧠🤓🤔Curiosity, creativity, and a desire to understand the world around us are traits that come naturally. Learning technical content and skills is vitally important. When this learning is tangible and connected to the real world, the impacts can be profound.
🧑🔬👩🏼⚕️🧑🔧SeaPerch aims to reduce traditional barriers to participation in robotics programs and promotes opportunities to engage students and educators in inquiry-based learning with real-world applications. As an educational program, SeaPerch introduces students to basic engineering, design, and science concepts. As a fun hands-on project, SeaPerch engages students and fosters key 21st century skills including critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity.

The Greater Springfield Partnership's educational outreach held their annual Magnify 🔍 Summer Internship Program Day this week. Northwestern had 4 students apply and get accepted into the program.
At the event, students;
🧊 Participated in an Icebreaker to find their team
👷🕵️🧑🏫🧑🍳🧑🔬 engaged with local, prospective employers about opportunities for summer placements. Some options are going to be:
🦷🪥 Intern at a Dentist office
🎉🥳 Event planner at Co-Hatch
💼🧑⚖️ Intern at Clerk of Courts
🌷🪺☀️🏕️ Intern for a Summer Camp for kids
🌟 And many more!
The students also got to practice the dos and don'ts of interviewing, what to wear and feedback on their resume.
Next up they will interview starting May 1 and see which opportunities are a match!

Northwestern Local Schools is happy to announce that we have formed a partnership with Clark State Community College that will provide a free Clark State credit to our high school students taking ENG12!
👩🏻💼🧑🏭👩🏼⚕️👷This articulated credit is EBE1000-Employability Skills and it pairs job and career readiness within the fourth level English 📝 course.
