Yesterday, one student chose to represent her favorite branch of the military in honor of her mom. A simple but meaningful way to show pride and appreciation. 🇺🇸
We’re grateful for the service and sacrifice of the families in our community.

Our new Junior High STEM 8 class is reaching new heights as students explore the science of air and space. Mr. Lindsay worked with Maddox and Ale as they designed and tested their own hot air balloon.
By heating the air inside the balloon, students saw how expanding air becomes less dense than the cooler air around it—creating the buoyant force that lifts the balloon into the sky!
Hands-on learning + real science = ideas that soar! 🚀 Powered by Springfield-Clark CTC, this class is one of 20+ classes available to students in partnership with Springfield-Clark CTC!

At the monthly school board meetings, we are recognizing students for their achievements. Teachers and staff members are nominating students for their academics, behavior, leadership, teamwork, work ethic, outstanding performances in a particular academic area, etc. Elementary Principal, Mr. Everhart recognized our incredible ROX program this month.
We are so proud of the hard work, growth, and confidence our students continue to build through ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences). This program empowers our young women to develop leadership skills, strengthen relationships, and believe in their voices—and it shows every day!
Thank you to our dedicated advisors and amazing students for making this program such a success. Keep leading, inspiring, and lifting each other up! 💪✨

To bring their learning to life, we were excited to welcome our friends from Chick-fil-A of Springfield, who visited the classrooms and shared fresh fruit with our students. It was a wonderful hands-on experience that helped reinforce the importance of making healthy choices every day!
Thank you to Chick-fil-A for supporting our students and making learning both meaningful and delicious!

Our 10th grade students took learning to the next level with a cross-curricular project in English and Government, diving deep into civil liberty struggles throughout history.
💡 They chose their own topics
📚 Researched primary & secondary sources
🤝 Collaborated with new peers
🎤 Presented to a live audience at our Civil Rights Fair
This incredible experience—made possible by the teamwork of Mr. Kretz and Mrs. Group and their work with Project-Based Learning—showcased just how powerful student voice and choice can be.
The result? 🙌
Engaged learners, meaningful connections, and some truly impressive depth of knowledge on display.
We are so proud of our students and the amazing work they shared!

Students in Mrs. Luffy’s English 12 class are doing more than just earning their final English credit—they’re getting a head start on their futures! Through a partnership with Clark State, students are also earning college credit for EBE 1000 📚🙌
Recently, students took part in a hands-on interview experience with amazing local community members who volunteered their time and expertise. Each student came prepared with a resume, practiced their interview skills in real time, and followed up with a professional thank-you letter—just like in the real world! 💼👏
These are the kinds of opportunities that truly make a difference—building confidence, communication skills, and career readiness all in one experience.
A huge THANK YOU to our community partners for investing in our students’ futures! 💙

Recently, members of the team presented their project,Beyond Reading: Collaborative Model for School-wide Literacy Engagement at the OCTELA State Conference. Having their proposal selected was an honor, and their session drew many interested English teachers from across the state.
The team shared how they are creating meaningful ways for high school students to engage with books, build awareness of community resources like the Bookmobile and local library, and integrate the arts and humanities into hands-on classroom projects.
Students are divided into “houses” named after famous authors—similar to the house system in Harry Potter—and complete quarterly challenges that encourage creativity, collaboration, and a love of lifelong learning.
This dynamic project began with the support of a districtwide initiative to expand project-based learning opportunities, and the results have been outstanding! Looking ahead, the team plans to continue growing the program by partnering with the Springfield Museum of Art to bring even more opportunities to students in the coming year.
👏 Thank you to our English Department for representing us so well!
