Northwestern Local Schools is proud to announce Joshua C. Roeth as the new Principal of Northwestern Jr./Sr. High School. Mr. Roeth brings over 15 years of educational experience spanning classroom teaching, building leadership, and district-level administration, with a strong focus on student achievement, staff development, and career readiness.
Mr. Roeth currently serves as a 6–12 Student Success Administrator, Career Navigator, and Work-Based Learning Coordinator, at Northridge Local Schools (Dayton) where he has led efforts to expand career pathways, strengthen employer partnerships, and provide meaningful real-world learning experiences for students. His work has centered on preparing students for success beyond graduation through innovative programming and strong community connections.
Previously, Mr. Roeth served as a Middle School Principal, where he led a building of more than 900 students and 80 staff members. During his tenure, he focused on improving school culture, increasing student engagement, supporting teachers through instructional leadership, and enhancing family involvement. His leadership experience also includes serving as an Assistant Principal, where he coordinated key district initiatives in safety, attendance, curriculum, and professional development.
Mr. Roeth began his career in education as an elementary teacher and has maintained a passion for building strong relationships with students, staff, and families. He is known for his collaborative leadership style, data-driven decision-making, and commitment to continuous improvement. He is deeply committed to supporting all students in their individual interests and takes great pride in attending and cheering on students in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities.
Outside of school, Mr. Roeth enjoys spending time with his wife, Heather, and their daughters, Jaycee and Jorgia. He values family time and enjoys being outdoors, traveling to the beach, and working around the farm. These experiences reflect his strong connection to family, community, and the values he brings to his leadership.
Mr. Roeth is excited to join the Northwestern community and looks forward to working with students, staff, families, and community partners to build on the school’s strong traditions while preparing students for future success.

The Northwestern Local School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Ryan Rismiller as the new Superintendent. Mr. Rismiller is currently the Principal at London High School. Previously he was the Principal at Dayton Meadowdale High School, a Dayton Public School, focusing on Career and Technical Education. Before serving at Meadowdale, he served as the Graham High School Principal and as an Assistant Principal with Marion City Schools.
Mr. Rismiller began his career as an agricultural science and special education teacher before moving into school administration. He holds two Master’s Degrees, one in Special Education and one in School Leadership, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science.
Mr. Rismiller will officially begin his duties on August 1st, but will work several days prior to aid in transition.

Senior Jacob Vocke was struggling to find employment, but with the help of secretary Jenn Timmons, he was connected with Rural King which perfectly aligns with his interests and job skills. Jacob is now thriving as a Recovery Associate in the Farm and Animal Department!
He is well on his way in this success story and has already logged over 500 hours at his job placement. 💪
Even more impressive—year to date, our Work-Based Learning students in NW FFA have earned over $180,000!

Wayne has served as our lead mechanical skills instructor, while Nick has shared his expertise in welding. Their knowledge and dedication have made a lasting impact on our students.
With their guidance, Landon Dubie, Phil Boles, Landon Tipps, and Alex Woolf competed at the State Ag Mechanics Career Development Event. The team earned an impressive 17th-place finish in the state, and individually, Landon Dubie placed 22nd overall.
