Students in 7th grade ELA in Ms. Niemitalo's class are working through a brain exploration unit. In the unit, they have been reading about the effects of a traumatic brain injury and are now beginning to explore the mind of the teenager! Scary, right!? Ms. Niemitalo has prepared an extension for students to learn more about themselves and how they act in their Gem state as well as how they act in their GEMNASTY state, or when they are not emotionally regulated. To guide students they are going on the GEMSTONE ADVENTURE. Pictured is Clay who is creating an artistic representation of the information he learned about himself on the adventure. The goal of the Gemstones is to help students identify when they are not emotionally controlled and to be able to have strategies to help them get back to their Gem state of mind.

A couple of budding musicians in Mr. Feltner's Symphonic Band were recently asked to audition for some area accomplished musicians to get professional feedback on their skill and talent. They were asked to bring their talent and they sure did! Way to go Emma and Noah on amazing displays of your musical knowledge and skill. We know there is more to come as you continue to grow as musicians 🎼🎵🎶

This fall we started recognizing students at our monthly board meetings for their achievements. Teachers and staff members nominated students for their academics, behavior, leadership, teamwork, work ethic, outstanding performances in a particular academic area, etc. A statement from Principal, Mrs. Kleinhenz: "A Night to Shine is a complimentary event, most often a prom, hosted by local churches around the world, for individuals with special needs, and is sponsored by the Tim Tebow foundation. The event is open to anyone living with disabilities, ages 14 and older. Guests are paired with a buddy for the night to do different activities. Clark County's Night to Shine included 5 Northwestern students as 'buddies' for the honored guests. These ladies did an excellent job of representing our school! " Please help us by congratulating our February students ! Pictured (left to right): Claire Stott, Ava Born, Mackinzie Steele, Macy Clark, and Alexis Comer. (Not pictured: Chevey Seagle)

📖📚Students in Ms. Beal’s Spanish 3 class are exploring literature written in Spanish. 🎉Fiesta Fatal💀 is an easy Spanish reader containing just 140 new vocabulary words and many Spanish-English cognates. They are discussing text related questions such as: ❓❓Does every girl deserve to be treated as a princess for a day? ❓❓Or are there definite exceptions? If anyone deserves a disastrous quinceañera birthday party, it is mean-spirited Vanesa Romero. 🇲🇽Taking place in Mexico, Vanesa wants to impress everyone at her party, thus restoring her image with her classmates. If she only could fix her rocky relationship with her mom, things would be nearly perfect. Much to her surprise, when she puts on her extravagant dress for the party she becomes a target rather than a princess for a day.
