Homecoming Festivities 2023
The family of Aiden Clark wishes to issue the following statement to the local community and media:
“We are grateful for the thoughts and prayers directed to our family in this very difficult time. The show of support over the last several days — especially from those who knew our son — has been especially heartwarming. Words cannot describe the heartache and emptiness that we feel knowing he is no longer with us. The past days have been extremely difficult for our family. We ask everyone — including media, friends and others — to respect our privacy and provide us time to grieve our loss. We appreciate your cooperation while we cope with this tragedy in the coming days and weeks. Thank you for your understanding and for the care and love you have shown and continue to show to our family.”
A local account has been established for individuals and organizations interested in making a contribution to the Clark family during this unimaginable time. Checks can be made out to Fidelity FBO - Nathan and Danielle Clark and mailed to P.O. Box 37, North Hampton, OH 45349.
Attention Parent’s/Guardian's of new students, 7th and 12th graders:
This is the final notice for required immunization records. In accordance with Ohio Law, your child will be excluded from school beginning Tuesday September 12, 2023, until these requirements are met. Absences will be counted as unexcused and extended absences may result in truancy.
Immunizations are offered at the Clark County Health Department by appointment only. They are currently scheduling appointments in October. Please provide me with your child's appointment date, if it is past September 12th. This will allow your child to remain in school after the set exclusion date. Local pharmacies/minute clinics and your pediatrician are also options for obtaining immunizations. Be sure to call these providers first, as they may not carry the required vaccines.
If you are planning to refuse the required immunizations for religious or philosophical reasons, an updated exemption form must be signed yearly. That form can be obtained from the school or on our website under the health and wellness tab.

The district held professional development for our staff on August 16th. We welcomed Dr. Jim Van Allan, Vice President of Schools with The Jon Gordon Companies. He is focused on helping schools and districts build a positive culture.
As the VP of Schools, Jim manages the Energy Bus for Schools Program. This program gives schools a blueprint and framework to create a positive school culture. It is a transformative program with over 100 schools nationwide.
Jim and best-selling author, Jon Gordon, have a book coming out in January called, The Energy Bus for Schools: 7 Ways to Improve Your School Culture, Remove Negativity, Energize Your Teachers, and Empower Your Students.
Jim is also a Professor of Communication Studies with Keiser University and holds degrees from the University of Florida and Florida Atlantic University.
His Ph.D. is in Education Leadership where he analyzed the impact of professional development training based on the best-selling book ‘The Energy Bus’. The research focused on how schools and organizations can sustain a positive culture. He resides in Palm City, Florida, with his wife, Stephanie, two boys, Brady and Brenden...and a baby girl due in 3 weeks.
If you would like to make a donation to all families that were affected by the bus accident, you may do so at the Board of Education Office by mail or in person. So that students and staff can attend the funeral on Monday, Northwestern Local Schools will be closed. No school on Monday, August 28, 2023. We will have practices and competitions that night. The staff is not required to report on Monday the 28th.

Thank you so much for your support! I encourage you keep loving on each other, it is doing so much good. We can feel the love here at the school. I am sure others in the community can feel it too. We have received support from all over the county, the state, and the nation. We are hearing that there are a lot of people who want to donate, but don't know how. Our Treasurer, Jenna Ashbaugh, is going to be the district representative in charge of donations. If you or any other organizations want to donate to the school, in any way, please contact Jenna at ashbaughj@nwlschools.org. The bus accident this morning claimed the life of one of our elementary students. We will not have classes tomorrow. We will have grief counselors available for anyone who needs additional support during this tragedy. The Elementary and the Jr/Sr High will open at 8am for students, staff, and community members who need assistance and want to talk to a mental health specialist. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families that have been impacted by this tragedy.
For all CTC and STEM students, if transportation is needed to CTC or STEM on August 23rd, they will need to self transport or they can catch the shuttle in the morning at the rear of the high school between 7:00 and 7:10am. The bus will leave promptly at 7:15am. Any questions, you can call 937-964-1672.
Northwestern Warriors, we are unsure when State Route 41 will reopen. It is closed between Ballentine Pike and the school. If you are planning on picking up your student(s) today, you will need to enter the campus from Penny Pike.
Northwestern Family, I am saddened to report that there was an Injury accident this morning involving one our buses. We are still gathering information and will share it with you as it becomes available. Currently, 41 is closed near the school. We will be dismissing at are usual times. We are expecting bus drop off times to be off this afternoon, so please be patient. I will send another update later today.
