Welcome to Northwestern's Food Service Department
Thank you for taking the time to take a look at our program! Our staff is knowledgeable, dedicated, and kind. They look forward to seeing your child each day and enjoy helping them with their breakfast and lunch selections. The food service department employees are just one group of excellent staff at Northwestern that contribute to a child’s education. Northwestern participates and follows the National School Lunch and Breakfast program. Each of our meals comply with the Meal Pattern Guidelines established by the USDA.
Northwestern Local Schools will participate in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) during the 2021-2022 school year. Under this option, all children in the school receive a breakfast/lunch at no charge, and without any application. A Household Information Survey is available to determine if your child may qualify for various additional school, state and federal program benefits. This survey will be sent home in first day packets with Elementary students. It is also available at open houses and school offices, and on the Northwestern website. If interested, please complete, sign, and return.
To ensure that no student has an allergic reaction, it is imperative that allergy information is indicated in the Medical Information section of the student registration form completed at the start of each school year. The school nurse collects this information. The Food Service Department works with each school’s nurse to collect these allergy details. If an allergy exists, this information is input into the food service computer system and student’s screens are flagged with an alert. Providing the school with proper information/identification, assures no student goes through the meal lines with a food item that can negatively impact their allergy.
EZPay is offered to assist with depositing money into your child’s meal account. Any food items, additional to the Breakfast meal/Plate lunch follow a la carte pricing. You may access the EZPay link through the Northwestern website under “Important Links” found on the Parent Resources tab. You can direct your questions to EZPay at 1-866-MY-EZPay (1-866-693-9729). You will need your student’s ID# when calling.
We anticipate fewer unexpected changes to our menus for this school year. Suppliers are working diligently to bring inventory back to normal levels after facing the Covid related challenges. Should a menu change be required, we will do our best to notify you ahead of time. However, this may not always be possible. Thank you for your understanding. All USDA Nutritional guidelines are followed.
